Philippines asks the United States for Temporary Protected Status

In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, which devastated the Philippines over a month ago, the Philippines has formally requested that the U.S. government designate the country under Temporary Protected Status (TPS). A TPS designation would provide temporary immigration relief to certain eligible Filipino nationals in the U.S.

Re-registration for El Salvador TPS Begins

The Department of Homeland Security has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Salvadorans in the United States through March 9, 2015. Salvadorans who currently have TPS must re-register during the 60-day period, from May 30, 2013 until July 29, 2013, in order to maintain TPS status.

Re-registration for Nicaraguan and Honduran TPS Begins

map-NicaraguaHonduras.gifThe Department of Homeland Security has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Nicaraguans and Hondurans in the United States for an additional 18 months, from July 6, 2013 through January 5, 2015. Nicaraguans and Hondurans who currently have TPS must re-register during the 60-day period, from April 3, 2013 through June 3, 2013, in order to maintain TPS status.

Re-registration for Haitian TPS Begins

The Department of Homeland Security has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians in the United States for an additional 18 months, from January 22, 2013 through July 22, 2014. Haitians who currently have TPS must re-register during the 60-day period, from October 1, 2012 until November 30, 2012, in order to maintain TPS status.
